IN LIVING MEMORY

A Photo Series

“In Living Memory” is a photo series presented in the format of an electronic photobook.

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the passing of my grandpa two years ago made me realise the fragility of life, which spurred my exploration of ageing and memory in this photo series. The photos were taken during multiple visits to my grandparent’s home. The first few images represent how I see my grandma. It is my way of trying to grasp onto the limited time and memories that I have with her because someday, she will leave us forever too, just like grandpa. The soft and intangible quality of the shadows in the last two photos reflects the intangible quality of memory, which seems to be what my grandpa has become. It reminds me to treasure the time I have with my loved ones before they become just another intangible memory as well.
